Topamax, a most common medicine for migraine headaches is generally called as topiramate, and this was initially accepted by the FDA in the later 90s for the treatment of abductions due to epilepsy. In the year 2004, it was widely accepted for the prevention of migraine headaches and then it has gained its own place and name among all other migraine medicines and become widely used treatment. Topamax lawsuit 2011 is not advisable for pregnant women as this cause many severe problems.

This was clinically confirmed by FDA in the later 2000 and they found that the threat for these types of birth defects is 11 times greater in women who have used Topamax while pregnancy when compared with normal people. North American Antiepileptic Drug Pregnancy Registry was also confirmed that the rate of cleft defects is 1.4% in women who used Topamax as a single treatment, the possibility may also go between the risk percent of 38% – .55% if they use it in blend with other antiepileptic drugs. The FDA is also demanding stronger warning labels for the drug.  Pregnant Woman should necessarily take effective birth control pills if at all possible a non-hormonal one to avoid risk.
